Arnold Schwarzenegger Claims He's Finally Making Sequels To Three Of His Classic Movies

The former governor of California is claiming that there's plans to move forward with a trio of his most classic movies from his '80s heyday. How likely is any of this to actually happen? Your guess is as good as ours, but the fact that he's already open to talking about it suggests he's feeling awfully bullish.

The news comes courtesy of the Schwarzenegger fan site TheArnoldFans, which reports several quotes from the man himself during this past weekend's Arnold Sports Festival held annually in Columbus, Ohio. According to the actor, he's been told about no less than three projects in development that would bring back several of his most famous properties to the big screen: "Predator," "Commando," and "Conan." Here's what he had to say:

"They did an additional 'Predator,' and the director [Dan Trachtenberg] has been doing a great job of that. Now, he wants me to be in the next 'Predator.' We've talked about it. As a matter of fact, [Twentieth Century] Fox studios has kind of rediscovered Arnold. They've come to me and said, 'We want you to do 'Predator,' we just got a script for you to do 'Commando 2.'"

As if that wasn't remarkable enough on its own, Schwarzenegger went on to drop some serious news regarding a possible "Conan" sequel: "They just hired a fantastic writer/director who did Tom Cruise's last four movies. They just hired him [Christopher McQuarrie] to write and direct King Conan."

The trailer for “Coyote vs. Acme” has been released, offering a first look at the long-delayed live-action/animation hybrid ahead of its theatrical debut Aug. 28.

Directed by Dave Green, the film follows Wile E. Coyote as he takes legal action against the Acme Corporation, whose products have repeatedly malfunctioned during his pursuit of the Road Runner. Will Forte stars as Coyote’s attorney, with John Cena playing opposing counsel.

I just read "Project Hail Mary" and it was really good. I'm now cautiously looking forward to the movie, in the hopes that it doesn't disappoint.

I just finished the audio book. Haven't seen the movie yet. LOVED the book.

I saw He-Man last weekend. A lot of people were poo-poohing it.

It's very camp and a little hokey but so was the cartoon back in the day. I thought it was a fun movie and worth watching.

Ryan Reynolds says the next Deadpool movie will have "a few really deep cuts" from the comics

If news of Avengers: Doomsday tickets imminently going on sale and a possible Avengers: Doomsday trailer dropping today weren't enough, Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that "another Deadpool film" is coming, suggesting it will draw closely from "a few deep cuts" from the comics.

Speaking on stage at Fanatics Fest (via @hobbynonsense on Instagram), Reynolds teased an inevitable fourth Deadpool film. "There's a few really deep cuts that are missing from the movies, I think there's a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics," Reynolds said.

Merger deal between Paramount and Warner Bros paused by judge

A US federal judge has temporarily blocked the proposed $110bn (£85bn) merger between media giants Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros Discovery.

The decision follows a lawsuit brought by a coalition of 12 US states, including California and New York, aiming to halt the deal over concerns it would stifle competition and raise consumer prices.

Prosecutors representing the states said merging two major studios would cause “substantial harm on movie theatres, basic cable distributors, and, ultimately, audiences nationwide”. In response, the media giants argued that the states had misread the market and that merging would improve streaming efficiency.

In her ruling, the judge noted that the state coalition raised "serious questions" regarding the deal’s impact on movie distribution. She warned that allowing the merger to proceed now would make it "extraordinarily difficult to unscramble the egg" if the court decided later to block it all together.
