Sucks that Svanson has been so bad. I thought he was at least going to be a decent reliever and possibly a closer at some point. Had a lot of bad luck the first game, but since then he’s just been bad.

No kidding. He was a 1.7 WAR rookie reliever, which is extremely impressive. 60 innings at 210 ERA+!

He's only thrown 6 innings so far, and bad [expletive] can happen in such a small sample. But each outing has been a new calamity for him so far this year, sadly.

I wish I knew the reason why relievers are so volatile other than sample size.

I think I first learned this lesson when Tavarez and Ray King went from looking unbeatable to being very average the following year.

Though I’d take the 2005 version of either right now.
