Good deal for Montreal. It’s supposed to be a pretty meh draft outside of the top 10.
That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of good players, just not as many higher ceiling guys.
Or so say the bits and pieces I’ve read because I don’t really know lol

Kyrou's no trade clause goes into effect July 1 so if they are shopping him it will happen quickly.
And I will be pissed.

Blues fill their glaring organizational needs at C and RD by drafting a RW!!
In all seriousness it seems like a good pick. BPA. Good overall skills with a very good shot. (Bolduc-y?)
If you draft a bunch of talent, you can always trade the surplus to fill a need so I’m a big fan of BPA strategy wrt the draft.

Hover extended. 2 years, $3.4m per. With the rising cap that seems about right for a very good backup working towards 1B status. Walks him to FA where he has a chance to get a big payday as a starter here or elsewhere depending on what we do with Binner and/or Ellis.
According to Puckpedia, that leaves us with 1.625m cap space, not counting Krug’s likely $6.5m on LTIR, and honestly, if needed, you can probably move a Leddy or Tex or Joseph if needed for a late round pick and not have to retain or “pay” a team to take them, given the likely crazy jump in prices for role players.
EDIT: My mistake, Hofer will have one more RFA year left at the end of this deal.

Damn, young, undersized RD Spence went for peanuts (67oa and a 6th next year) to Ott.
I prefer bigger defensemen, but given our derth of RD prospects, I’d take taken a flier on him for that price to see if he could stick on the third pairing.

Love it! Carbonneau is going to be a stud, I'm thrilled we got a talent like this at pick 19..JCShutout wrote: ↑June 28 25, 1:50 pmHover extended. 2 years, $3.4m per. Sure, we need centers & RHD's, but choices in those were all "meh".

I’m glad Kyrou is still here. While I’d have moved him for a core young rd or c, I think his contract is already a bargain and will continue to be one moving forward.
There are just like 2-3 centers available that move the needle lol. I expect big overpayments to them. I hope the blues stay out of the fray and poach a decent 3rd line cap dump type center for peanuts in a couple of weeks.
FA starts at 11cst!
