Blues Off-season and 2025-26 Season

Post by GeddyWrox »

The 24-25 season is officially over.

Time to start looking forward to 25-26.

Blues have a promising core. But what will the offseason bring? I'm hoping they can resign Faksa, pick up a middle-six C for 2 or 3 years while Dvorsky matures, and maybe ditch some of the dead weight salary from the blue line.

They need to resign Hofer, too. And they should be thinking about extensions for Holloway and Broberg in the near future as well.

I like where the Blues are atm. Good growing core. Solid vets on mostly soon expiring deals. We need a few pieces but have time and a lot of good prospects to maybe fill those spots or be trade fodder.

I have no doubt we will either sign Hofer (or match any decent offer), or if he is taken by an offer sheet, it will be a massive overpay and we will get a decent return. I’d take Faksa back and yeah, a 2/3c and a top4 rd would be great, but 2/3 of the league is looking for that.

But DA doesn’t have to panic. If there is opportunity, jump. If not, continue building towards the next couple of years. I could see some “buy low” lottery pick trades. See if they can catch a Fabbro in a bottle, so to speak.

Just saw Dallas resigned Duchene to 4 x 4.5m. Good amount, scary term, though if he ages gracefully, 4.5m in a rising cap isn’t the worst problem on your third line.

The Blues were fun to watch last season and I do not get as wrapped up in them as I do baseball; but that win streak really got me excited for them.

They need to add a big scorer or get more out of the ones they have imo. And maybe add some depth at Center.

I think they'd love to add a bigtime scorer, but not if it puts too big of a dent in the depth they were running by the end of the season.

Without adding someone with 40+ goal potential, I think you are hoping for incremental improvements from several guys: Bolduc, Neighbors, Holloway, Broberg, Buchnevich (not having to start the season at C), and especially a full season of Snuggerud.

Yikes on the autocorrect on my last post Faksa to Faisal? TF?

Most of the league wants to add a center and a good young RD. It’s a seller’s market, but with the cap going up so much, EVERYONE has cap room now and in the future.

I think the Blues would be smarter to wait for good buy low lottery tickets and let teams make some overpays this and next year when there is cap space competition from the whole league. Wait until half the league caps itself out of the competition (and letting your youth develop a little longer) before making that big splash or two (a la 19 offseason)

EDIT: Looks like the Haws resigned Donato to 4x4. If he produces like last year that’s crazy value. If he produces like previous years that’s a tick high but probably no longer terrible, and the deal ends when he’s 33. Good move for both sides.

I wouldn't count on Holloway to be much of anything going forward.

Really? Curious what makes you say that. He seems to have the same level of promise as Jake Neighbors, if not even more.

Blues are updating their unis to adopt the Winter Classic look. I do love the lighter blue with yellow/white scheme, but I think I will miss the dark blue standard home unis.

Here's a pic of the new primary unis in case anyone doesn't have access to the links (or doesn't use google translate lol)...

using the interlocking STL on the pants also; also no outline on the numbers any longer...

They did mention they are keeping the darker royal blue unis as an 3rd/alternate jersey
