Show me the cutting room floor
This is many different types of great but it's six hours long.
DMB feet
this was considered for my Solomotional playlist. it's also quite similar in theme to my favorite Big Thief song 'Mythological Beauty' (which has amazing, creative guitar work but not a solo). +7 points for mid-song guitar change:

Here's another solo from a performance I love. +11 points for having two drummers AND another guy banging a cymbal. On the next Bon Iver tour I'm going to sneak on stage with a concertina and I bet I'll play three nights with them before they realize no one knows me.
When I listen to Bon Iver I don't ever really think of Vernon as a guitarist. But he can rip.

Dave Matthews Band have some really great live stuff (often featuring great solos, too, just usually on everything but guitar, though sometimes on that too as the Derek Trucks guest spot shows).
That Bon Iver video is not at all what I would have expected from a Bon Iver performance. If I just heard the audio I would have never guessed that was Vernon playing the outro. Good stuff. There's also something hilarious about seeing someone frenetically soloing with a capo on.

"Silver Springs" is one of the most famous outtakes and a great song. I ended up not using it in my outtakes playlist because I thought it might be a little too well-known for the spirit of the list (it was a minor chart hit when it was finally released, and it was available at the time as the B-side to the "Go Your Own Way" single even though it was cut from Rumours).
*
I considered a few Final Fantasy songs for the video game music playlist, but probably would have used this one from Final Fantasy XIII:
*
And Bob Dylan has a lot of good outtakes that I could have used if not for "Blind Willie McTell":

I almost used Willie's version of Blue Skies in the Ease My Mind list; but in the end thought it was a little too peppy for the mood compared to Isa Briones' version; though I like both very much.
I had used Willie in a different list already and had also used a couple of Orbison so I was trying to mix it up and not rely on the same couple of artists too much as well.

Willie’s Stardust is one of my favorite albums, but I understand it’s important to fit the mood of a list. I hadn’t heard Isa’s version before but think it’s great.
