On April 1, 1982, the Cardinals acquired Lahti in a trade with the Reds. Lahti became a valuable bullpen piece, first serving as a bridge to closer Bruce Sutter, then leading the team with 19 saves in 1985.

And I [expletive] every time I saw Andy Van Slyke for the next seven years as he improved his performance over any of his St. Louis seasons. It wasn't quite on the Carlton trade level but it was close. Hurt more since he stayed in the division and you were reminded of the bad trade over and over again.
