Getting under 6 is awesome and no simple feat!! Congrats on the result and for the hard work and effort that went into it.Leroy wrote: ↑October 1 21, 11:16 amSo I went to the doctor yesterday. For the first time I wasn't afraid to hear my A1C because I knew it would be good but not sure how good. It was a 5.9! Wow, I haven't been below 7.5 since I found out I was diabetic, and my worst was 11.2 which is just embarrassing.
The other news was that I have lost 32 pounds since May 4, my last visit. A welcome side effect to the 150 days of hard friggin work.

Re: Getting into shape
Six month report card.
A1c reduced from 11.0 to 5.9.
Humalog (Insulin) injections (average):
Prior / Current:
Breakfast 6 Units / 0 Units
Lunch 10 Units / 0 Units
Dinner 12 Units / 0 Units
Novalog (Insulin) injections:
Per Day - Prior / Current
32 Units / 0 Units
My scale is being stupid, but my best guess is -35 pounds. Last doctor visit - 32 pounds.
How I got there:
Deep reduction in carbs. Probably less than 75 per day. Pretty much necessary to keep diabetes under control.
Workouts:
Anytime Fitness - 195 Sessions
Core Fitness - 2 Sessions
Outdoor runs -7
188 days / 204 Workouts
It has been a lot of work, but I'm pretty happy with where I have gotten.

Re: Getting into shape
I lost 50 pounds, then I started weight lifting. I've been doing it for a month and honestly don't know how I was making it through life before committing to it. I have so much more energy, I am already like 40% stronger than when I started, and I do yoga before every lift so I'm much more flexible.
I think the key to feeling young in your mid to late 30's is neglecting your body for a solid 15 years and achieving your physical prime at 36. Everyone who was fit when I was fat are now fat and and I'm fit. I love that because I am a troll at heart.

I’m trying. Getting back into an exercise routine. Starting to feel the effects with increased stamina and energy levels. 15 years ago, I probably would’ve already lost 10 pounds. But old age has definitely slowed my metabolism so it’ll be a longer road now.

Re: Getting into shape
Tomorrow marks 10 months since I started this stuff everyday. I hate, hate, hate lifting weights, but apparently it helps with blood sugar so I'm doing it now.
I envy you who feel better from all this. I'm still constantly wore out. Probably from age, diabetes, and a semi-serious liver condition.

Re: Getting into shape
Losing weight has been a really hard battle for me since college really. When I was younger I played football and boxed and both of those kept me in shape. I've always been a big guy but at some point I went from a big guy in shape to the sack of blubber I am now. I was actually doing really good a few years ago but when I got covid in 2021 everything got harder. It was really hard to exercise with diminished lung capacity. Well as a result I've definitely gotten even more rotund. About 6 months ago I was at the doctor and he said we need to watch my blood pressure. If it doesn't come down I'll have to go on medicine. When I came home I told my wife and she said ok here's the deal, I don't care if you are in shape but if you have to go on medicine for it things are going to change and I'm going to whip your ass in shape.
Well today my doctor put me on blood pressure meds. I texted my wife and told her and her reply was "we are going to correct that starting tonight."
