AW posted in the GDT that the duck boats with canopies are especially dangerous because the life jackets pull you to the top with the canopy. So you either get stuck or you don't wear one.

Wasn't that one fully enclosed?

Never mind - I see now it wasn't. So was everyone likely staying put hoping to ride it out and then just got taken down with it?

Apple cores, banana peels orange peels - ok to throw into the brush ? Like road or trailside.

For me. Apples -usually. Oranges sometimes. Bananas - rarely -they seem too non-native

Somehow my coed beer league softball team plays lower scoring games than MLB. We have won our last three games 4-0, 3-1 and 3-2. What is wrong with us? Our bats have been terrible but our defense has been legit. I don't think we've had a game with ten combined runs since the first game of the season in April.

Why was the boat out in a storm?

With today's weather technology, that seems fairly inexcusable.

Tragic. I'm sure it hurts you even worse since it's close to home, ICE. Sorry man.

From what I've heard it came up really quick from a direction storms usually do not come. The quote I heard was 65 MPH from the north. That sounds out on the bell curve quite a ways.

Yeah, but they were under a severe thunderstorm watch all day, and apparently the severe thunderstorm warning came 30 minutes before it went down. Don't know if they were already on the water at that point, but it seems like once it goes to a warning you get your ass back to shore. One couple asked for a refund before the boat went out because they were worried that the weather would be too bad.

Not just that but those storms had a history of being severe (caused heavy wind damage in Kansas earlier that day.) The storms might have been stronger than anticipated, but that they were there shouldn't have been a surprise.

Yeah, the National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm watch 8 hours prior to the storm: “widespread damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible.”
