Dear Derek,

One Mr. Thomas Pham is cheap and would look mighty fine in CF for your marlins this summer.

Respectfully request one Christian Yelich in exchange for said Thomas Pham.

Yours Truly,

And then you can flip Grichuk for a flyer on somebody else that might be useful. I'd take an outfield of Ozuna, Fowler, Pham and Yelich any day.

I would not want to be in a position to have to decide who the fourth outfielder is in that group since they all belong starting every day. I know Fowler started slow at the plate last year and had some injury issues but you can't tell me that his 18 homers, 60 or so RBI and production in general (minus April) should be a 4th outfielder.

If they did somehow swoop up Yelich without trading Pham, i wonder if it might be a better idea to take another run at Donaldson with Pham included in a deal with the idea that it is a sign and trade over trying to move Grichuk for something less. I don't know that they could work out a deal with Donaldson but I wouldn't want to give up Pham without an extension for Donaldson.

I'd love to create a team that consists entirely of all stars but the feelings of the guys who you're trying to move to the bench have to be considered as well. If they aren't happy with suddenly being moved to the bench when they could start for many, if not most teams, you're going to have problems with their production and possibly in the clubhouse. They might not intentionally cause issues in the clubhouse but if somebody isn't happy it has a tendency to have some sort of impact on everybody else when they're around each other every single day for over six months between spring training and the season.

My guess is that it *is* true, and Boras doesn't want that lower offer to setting JD's market.

Just a little short of that 7 year $210 million target.

It's sort of similar to what Cespedes got last off season which I think was 4/ $110M, which makes some sense.

The present and the future for non-superstar free agents is going to be shorter term contracts.

Then owners had better find a way to spend on superstars. It’s insulting to hear BDW pleading welfare as payroll goes down, revenue goes up, a mega TV deal kicks in and they got a big payout from the BAMTech sale.
