We haven’t been to the sweet sixteen since the mid 90s. Give me a couple trips there until I get mad. Ha you know he actually played more zone last year and that’s when we went on our run. But I haven’t seen much zone this year

I guess what I'm getting at is that somewhere between 12-15 teams have the potential to reach the Final Four with another 4-5 being long shots and Anderson's teams will inevitably fall short -- no matter how good they are. Missouri was damn lucky to beat Marquette and Memphis in 2009. I think they were up by as much as 20 in the Sweet 16 game against Memphis and the lead got under five. UConn was the No. 1 seed so it's not like they "should" have won but they had enough seniors and depth that a better coach might have gotten them over the hump.

Doubtful. But right now he has it rolling and is benefitting from an unprecedented in state group of recruits. Our second best signee, behind Gafford, gets up to campus and finds out he has a heart condition. He's a top 100 recruit that likely will never play basketball again. The next three years of Arkansas high school basketball is littered with studs. It is the complete opposite of Arkansas high school football.

If I remember correctly Mike took Mizzou to the Elite Eight and lost to eventual champion UConn, no?

Truth be told, he left his best team behind to take Arkansas. I think it is safe to say Mike would have taken Mizzou further than Haith did when Mizzou was a 2 seed.

Given CMA's style, his team a few years before that that had the same players plus Demarre Carroll and JT Tiller was better. I also think it's far from safe to say he would have done better than Haith. Haith played four guards at a time and let them bomb threes like an early golden state. CMA would have had them pressing and playing physical like he always does and that roster didn't really have the players for it.

I'll wager that Mike's team wouldn't have lost in the first round to Norfolk. But there is no point in disagreeing at this point.

I don't think so. That team grew to loathe Anderson and Kim English was seriously considering transferring. Anderson's last two seasons there were pretty blah, whereas Haith comes in and gets them to 30 wins. Anderson botched recruiting his last couple of years. He landed Phil Pressey because of a family connection, got Dixon and one year of Ratliffe, but left the cupboard bare.

Even if he did somehow win with the 11-12 team, they would have gone backwards because he spent more of the offseason entertaining other job offers than recruiting. He never bothered recruiting the actual state of Missouri. I don't think he even feigned interest in Beal. Anderson left the program teetering, Haith did what he could and the way the fanbase treated him was disgusting.

Phil Jackson and Red Auerbach could've coached the Tigers that day and still would've lost to Norfolk State. Just a stars aligning kind of performance

Kyle O'Quinn would've scored 40 points if Anderson tried pressing that day. Their size was unreal.

Well seems like both programs are happy with their current sitauations and hopefully a rivalry will flourish.
