This has me thinking....I think I got my ear pierced there in 1989(ish). It was immediately removed by my dad when he saw it a day later.
I was already in college when i got mine pierced so my Dad didn’t remove it, he just laughed derisively.
So we're doing our vacation picks at work. I'm... still pretty low on the seniority list but not the bottom. Whenever your turn comes up, the first time around, you must pick a week to take off that's your regular work week (if you work Monday-Friday, take M-F. Used to just be you'd have to take five consecutive days off, but could be thur, fri, mon, tues, wed for example.) As such, I never bothered for Thanksgiving because the Monday thru Wednesday were always in sweeps when we were blacked out for vacay.
The guy right behind me in seniority who also works M-F took Thanksgiving, Friday, and M,T,W of the following week in our picks. No one has said anything, including managers. I don't want to be a dick about this but I kinda do. I've been able to have the actual day of the Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday off before, but not a full week to really enjoy it.

If you don't say anything and let it happen; you have let precedent exist for you to be able to do the same thing following year. So it might be something you can flip to your advantage; if you get to pick before this guy since he is lower in seniority.
I went to my Daughter Stinky's class Polar Express day yesterday - I had forgotten to take my computer home with me Monday night so I could work in the morning from home, and then go in to the office after her class activities. Since i forgot my computer, I came in to the office at 6:30 - my normal time id 8:00. I worked for a few hours and then drove to my daughters school - 45 minute drive time. I asked the one of the acting managers if I could just work from home after wards to save the drive back, I forgot to inform the other acting manager. The one I forgot to inform told me that since it is Christmas week, they wanted all hands on deck and he wanted me back in the office, so I drove back and worked until 5:00 pm. When I got back he had a printout of several trucks I had due that were no-shows telling me to get these trucks re-scheduled - I had already contacted them and was trying to get new appointments made. He was basically being a dick since I forgot to inform him as well.
I got in this morning, and he was working from home this morning because he had to take his daughter to school today...He also lives only about 15 minutes away from the office, not 45 minutes to an hour like I do.

Ah, the wonderful 'do as I say, not as I do' line of managing. My current boss spent three months working from Costa Rica last year. I didn't report to him at the time. I joked Monday in a team meeting about working from our offices in San Diego during the winter and he laughed and said that he doesn't care where I work from as long as I'm available and working during business hours so thankfully he's not a hypocrite.
He did have a valid reason for working from Costa Rica though. Him and his wife are from Costa Rica and due to a change in visa status after she finished her rotations and passed the board exams (or whatever) so she can practice medicine in the US, he had to apply for another visa and even though he was approved right away the new one left a three month gap for him where he could stay in the country but not work so he had to either somehow not work for three months or work from another country during the gap. I don't think the company would have been OK with him just taking three months off.
I bought my mom a Carrie Underwood CD for Christmas. As I was checking out, the cashier said “Carrie Underwood, the original American Idol... and she always will be.”
1) That’s not true
2) I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean
