Just returned from a week of backpacking National Parks in Utah. Was hoping to return to news that Stanton had been traded to St. Louis by now. Sounds like we don't know anything more since last week?

As the World Turns. You know, you can come back after a year and the story remains the same.Hoot45 wrote:Just returned from a week of backpacking National Parks in Utah. For those that can't see embedded Tweets, this Morosi Tweet says: Some teams pursuing Giancarlo Stanton believe Dodgers are his first choice, and that he will be reluctant to approve other destinations until there is clarity with LA.

I think the opposite right now. By Morosi's reporting, we know that the Cardinals have made a formal offer, and we know Stanton hasn't rejected an offer. I think it means he would at least consider St. Louis. Otherwise, the talks would be dead.

I know it can be frustrating, but he negotiated a NTC instead of additional money for this right. There are places in the USA I wouldn't be willing to move to, particularly if my pay wasn't adjusted. I'm not going to vilify the guy for blocking a trade to any team or location.MinorLeagueGuy wrote:Move. On. [expletive] this guy..

Quick! Someone show Stanton a Post-Dispatch sports section with his name in a 100-point headline.

Yea i mean, at least we all know the terms up front and it appears that an offer has been made (and i'm gonna go out on a limb, but i truly believe it's the best offer) and now the ball is in stanton's court.
If we don't get him, i know the cards made a good effort.

The only concern I would have about the Cardinals offer is how much money they're willing to take on. It's the only other reason besides Stanton not wanting to play in St. Louis that this deal wouldn't get done. I'll just have to wait and see on that.go birds wrote:Yea i mean, at least we all know the terms up front and it appears that an offer has been made (and i'm gonna go out on a limb, but i truly believe it's the best offer) and now the ball is in stanton's court.

There will come a point where if the deal isn't done, I think the Cardinals should move on, but I'm nowhere close to that yet. I do think they need to have a good, exciting Plan B though. Missing on Stanton, I'm okay with. Missing on Stanton and settling for Carlos Gonzalez, I'm not.
