This sounds like every trip to my parents house in southern IA. It drives my wife crazy. Sometimes so much so that she won't let us stop at Culver's in the middle of the 6 hour drive home.

The irony being that you're literally surrounded on all sides by fields full of fresh vegetables. But she should still let you get a butter burger and some cheese curds.

Yeah. I just bought a cookbook from a chef that has acclaimed breakfast diners in mississippi and all the recipes are amazing but just drenched in butter. I think a lot of the trend towards more heritage soul foods is definitely not with health in mind.

Any gout history? That happened to me this spring and it turned out to be gout.
No, but I'm a fat piece of crap so it's possible.
I think I was just called a fat piece of crap.

Haha yeah that maybe came out wrong. I have an uncle with severe gout but he's rail thin. If I have it I'm sure it's due to eating greasey food.

But that's why they're so good!

Trick-or-treating ain't the same as when I was a kid. I can't believe some of the elaborate houses and costumes we saw last night.

One house was giving away bacon, we hit that place a couple of times...

We had to tell a joke before we got a treat.

Apparently there is such a thing as Maple Lea dolls which are the Canadian version of American Girl dolls. One of them looks like a 'fat Anne Gable' according to one of our sales directors.

My wife had to call 911 when the neighbor went into cardiac arrest last night because his wife is so frantic she couldn’t do it. My wife still pretty shaken up by it. Of course they asked her if he had a pulse and she wasn’t able to answer because his wife was so distraught and holding on to him. I wish I could’ve been there to help. Not that it would’ve made any difference.
This is the second time a relatively young next-door neighbor has died at home in the last couple years.

Sorry to hear that Luke - your wife did what she could, still must be a very difficult time. My thoughts are with you and her.

Wow. That is horrible. I don't know how I'd react to something like that. Sorry you and your wife have to go through this. Even though there was nothing either of you could have done, I understand how you will both still question if you could have done more.

I’m used to that sort of thing. Occupational hazard. My wife was really shaken up though. Most people don’t see death/dying up close like that. The neighbor’s wife was so distraught she could only scream, yelling for someone to call 911. The dog then my wife heard her.
The prior time with the 38 year old neighbor on the other side, his wife came looking to me for help but I wasn’t home. Unlikely I could have changed anything for either but i think it comforts people to know that everything possible was done- including cpr by FF/medic neighbor- for their loved one.
