My wife came home from work today and found a shovel stuck in the dirt outside our front window in the basement. She called the cops who searched the house, said it was all clear, but I don't know if this is some urban legend thing I don't know about.

Careful. That's the hobo sign for Leroy and his wood chipper to come for a visit.MrCrowesGarden wrote:My wife came home from work today and found a shovel stuck in the dirt outside our front window in the basement. Maybe the last time it rained they noticed that water wasn't draining away from the house properly so they came back to do a little grading for you.MrCrowesGarden wrote:My wife came home from work today and found a shovel stuck in the dirt outside our front window in the basement. Or they are using your yard as a pet cemetery.

Re: Random musings
Am I being a jerk for turning down two free nights at a hotel paid for by the company next week when the rest of the team working on the project will be staying there including my boss? Am I coming across as not being a team player?
The hotel is only two miles from home (closer than the office) and I don't think that my boss intended for me to be there the entire time when he had me added to the invite anyway. I don't see the sense in going through the effort of packing enough clothes for three days to stay at a hotel that is two miles from home when I can just sleep in my own bed each night. That's just a waste of money... but I don't know why I care since it isn't even my flipping money.

No, as long as you are participating in all of the activities other than sleeping at the hotel.tlombard wrote:Am I being a jerk for turning down two free nights at a hotel paid for by the company next week when the rest of the team working on the project will be staying there including my boss? I don't believe you're being a jerk.......quick question, are the other people from out of town or a good distance away?tlombard wrote:Am I being a jerk for turning down two free nights at a hotel paid for by the company next week when the rest of the team working on the project will be staying there including my boss? Re: Random musings
They're all from out of town with only two or three exceptions and we don't really have the meeting space in the building so the hotel and conference room setup makes sense. The others who are in town are staying at the hotel but they are more necessary to the workshops than I am. My boss will be there, I figure that if I was really needed then the rest of our group would be flying in from Boston and they aren't. I really think I'm only going to be needed for a few hours of the entire thing.
My one on one with my boss is starting now (just waiting on him to dial in) so I guess I'll find out more here shortly.

I'm in the you're "not being a jerk" boat.tlombard wrote:They're all from out of town with only two or three exceptions and we don't really have the meeting space in the building so the hotel and conference room setup makes sense.
