That's child's play. You're not really doing it right unless you do it in a Unimog.

That UEV-440 would be great at the lake but holy heck that thing is expensive at $38,950 before any options. I could but a couple of nice big campers for that or even just have a really sweet cabin built on my lot!!!

That's what the storage tote section is for at 1:23. The storage area at 3:10 is for you.

I'm sure you've come across this. http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/list/nflist.htm

The Dows have visited every national forest campground/grassland at least once and compiled specs on them.

Anyone ever camped in yellowstone? Any tips or ideas? Not much of a camper at all but I love the idea of sleeping in one of the great national parks with my sweetie.

We camped there last year. Are you thinking tent or RV? There are maybe 5 campgrounds that take advance reservations, and they have different levels of amenities near by. For instance, we stayed at Canyon campground, and that had showers and laundry there, plus a general store near by to get more food/booze if we needed it. That worked really well for us because we had a big group of varying ages and camping experience and a few amenities were desired. I'd like to go back with just my wife and kids soon, and then I'll make sure i have a reservation at one of the campgrounds that take reservations, but I'll try to get into the park early in the day to get a spot at a smaller, non-reservable campground.

We are going this year. Staying in Grand Teton because it's easier to get a spot and they have more accommodations -- Colter Bay. Gashouse covered it well, but you need plan way in advance if you want to be in the park.

And even then, if you are taking an RV, I would recommend staying in Teton. We're about an hour outside of Yellowstone, right on the lake with a great view of the mountains. Full hooks up.

Here's the setting - Image

I signed up for a september 50k trail race in Willamette Natl forest east of Eugene-along the McKenzie River. looks amazing. Hoping to explore the region, maybe Mt Hood, maybe over towards Bend.

Will have to fly in to Portland probably. If my wife gets to go, I'll be finding a nice resort nearby. If not, I'll just dirtbag it. Probably rent an SUV or something I could sleep in if weather is bad, or sleep in the hammock if it's nice. Forage for food and beer.
