Both are in, yes. They'll be up in the last set of Round 1 matchups, which will get posted on Sunday.Kincaid wrote:I assume (hope?) someone took Hendrix's cover of "All Along the Watchtower" and Jeff Buckley's (or John Cale's) cover of "Hallelujah" since those are among the best-known great covers out there.

Los Lobos cover Marvin Gaye. So sweet.

Obviously, I'm fond of chicks covering Elliott Smith songs. I almost submitted this young lady doing "Junk Bond Trader," but I didn't think her vocals were strong enough. Not bad, just needs more volume, or maybe just better recording equipment or something. She has some mad fingerpicking skills though. And she seems pretty young, so I'm sure her voice will get stronger.

One of my favourite Zeppelin songs is a cover of a Joan Baez recording of all things:

Nearly every Led Zep recording should count as a cover.

If I didn't know how the GRB machine works and his songs weren't so hard to find on YouTube, I would've included Garth Brooks' "Shameless."
Others:
Tarra Layne "Life By The Drop"
Chris Stapleton "Nothing Compares 2 U"
Metallica "Tuesday's Gone"
Straight No Chaser "Take Me To Church"
Zac Brown "Dress Blues"
Jason Isbell "Into The Mystic"

Re: Songs you forgot for the cover tournament
A couple days ago on Billy Joel's SiriusXM channel (the last day of it before it switched to Bon Jovi Radio) they had Garth on there doing a couple hour feature, and he played a live duet of "Shameless" with him and Billy. Sounded pretty good.MrCrowesGarden wrote:If I didn't know how the GRB machine works and his songs weren't so hard to find on YouTube, I would've included Garth Brooks' "Shameless."

I'm not sure I could love Isbell any more than I do yet I found his cover of Into the Mystic just so so. Need to check out Stapleton's Nothing Compares.

Sinead O'Connor's version of that song is another great one (hers is generally considered the definitive version, but is also a cover since Prince's band The Family originally recorded it).MrCrowesGarden wrote:Chris Stapleton "Nothing Compares 2 U"
