Not voting for Trump is likely a vote for Hillary in the short term. I don't care at this point.

I think a lot of Pubs can get behind his policies and if he wasn't such a beady eyed bastard he could get another shot. But I think a lot of people don't trust him. Hell, I'd like to like him, but just can't trust him. Don't know what it is, just a gut feeling I guess.
It's because every single thing he does serves his own interests, but he wraps it in the guise of his "principles". I can't find the article right now, but he got caught telling one of his big wealthy backers basically: "oh, don't worry, we're not actually going to implement some of these things, this is just to get me elected". I think it was about abortion. It's all a sham.

Ted Cruz is no Ronald Reagan. I miss Ronald Reagan.

Per Wikpedia:

"Reagan's impromptu concession speech has been called a "defining moment of the Reagan Revolution."
Reagan endorsed Ford after his defeat, and gave an eloquent and stirring speech that overshadowed Ford's own acceptance address. Some delegates later stated that they left the convention wondering if they had voted for the wrong candidate.[5] A contemporary media account stated that if a motion to reconsider the nomination had been in order, it might have passed.[6]
I think that's exactly what he was trying to do, no? Copy Reagan 1976. He even echoed the whole last stand on Earth thing. What did he forget?

If anyone hasn't seen that Reagan 1976 speech, they should. It's got everything.

And to be fair, it isn't like endorsing Ford is sinking as low as endorsing Donald [expletive] Trump.

The Cruz speech contained as much of an endorsement of Trump as Reagan's did for Ford.

It always pisses me off when canidates tell us how bad a person is until they lose the nomination. Then that person is suddenly a great choice.
The fact that Cruz and Trump can't stand each other is a big problem. In message board context: attack the policy/words/actions but not the person. Cruz and Trump made things personal. Trump attacked Cruz's wife and dad for Christ's sake.

Bernie has said bad things about some things Hillary has done such as vote in favor of the Iraq war and take money from huge corporate interests. That's not quite the same thing as calling Hillary names or saying Hillary's dad killed JFK. Do you see the difference?
Still, Bernie has been badmouthing Hillary for a year now. All of a sudden she is his choice. Freaking hypocrite. I feel the same about the republicans who now endorse Trump.

Did the former Republican speaker of the house call Reagan "Lucifer in the flesh" in 1976?

Reagan 1976 and Cruz 2016 could not be more different. Cruz conceded months ago. Reagan won a lot more delegates and never conceded and it wasn't even clear going into the convention who would win. And Reagan's opponent, Ford, was, uh, slightly different than Trump.

The point is that Cruz is already hated by many Republicans and Ford probably didn't feel entitled to an endorsement the way Trump and his supporters evidently did.
