I think people want to upset the status quo. So many have been forgotten and feel unheard and disrespected by the political and business establishment.
The people who vote Democratic didnt quite have enough of those. But the people who vote GOP did have enough to tip the scales.

All kidding aside, how did we get here?

14 billion years, some perturbation of a singularity caused a rapid rate of inflation in which the universe consisted of a quark-gluon plasma. Temperatures were so high that the random motions of particles were at relativistic speeds, and particle–antiparticle pairs of all kinds were being continuously created and destroyed in collisions. Somehow some violation of symettry occured in which slightly more quarks and leptons were created then anti-quark and anti-leptons. From this excess of quarks and leptons, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and 200 million bozos were created. These bozos used a technique called voting in which they chose these two collections of quarks and leptons.

And this is where we are.

I caught most of tonight and realized why it's a waste of time watching conventions, especially ones that are coronations.

The next two weeks will be a good time to binge watch some shows.

Yeah, you could go on and on and list all the inventions that came out of places other than Western Europe. Those are probably the things that neoliberals and Republicans would value above everything else. And that list would be plenty long. Then there is the entire list of cultural contributions to humanity from all these other places. Religion. Art. Music. Literature. Etc. Those things are not valued at all by Republicans because acknowledging them leads to that scary, scary multiculturalism. This stuff is probably more what King is concerned with. It's a great example of pure willful ignorance.
