Barometer series for me. Glad we went 7-2 against the dregs but I feel I still don't know much about this team.

I'll be there tonight, and I'll probably boo, because booing is fun, and this is definitely a good enough excuse.

The offense is legitimate....the pitching is shaky and the defense atrocious. Those are two things they absolutely need against the Cubs.

I just don't feel confident in saying anything concrete after 12 games. The hitting looks better than I thought it would, but I also wouldn't be shocked if that flipped on its head in the next week. Same for the pitching: I could easily see something clicking and they go on a tear.

I don't suspect they will average 7 runs per game against a very, very good Cubs pitching staff...but outside of Hazelbaker, Diaz and Garcia, nobody is blowing expectations out of the water. Just based on BABIP alone a good chunk of these guys are going to get better, not worse.

The Cardinals's backup catcher, Eric Fryer, is 6 for 6 this year. Here are just some of the guys who still don't have 6 hits this season: Adam Jones, Ian Desmond, Russell Martin, Kevin Kiermaier, Billy Hamilton, Byron Buxton, Billy Butler and (of course) A-Rod. Baseball!
