I'd like to see what Sidney and Erik's reaction would be, but I don't want to cause them stress. And right now I don't have any cucumbers. I wonder if a zucchini would do the same thing.
Should I scare my cat with a cucumber?
No. For some reason, National Geographic thought it was necessary to consult cat experts and a “certified animal behaviorist” to tell you this. “If you cause stress to an animal that's probably not a good thing,” the behaviorist helpfully told Nat Geo. "I think that the reaction is due to the novelty and unexpectedness of finding an unusual object secretly placed whilst their heads were down in the food bowl,” another similarly told the Telegraph. Thanks, experts! If you are still considering freaking your cat out for Internet fame, please take a moment to remember that house cats can kill.

I scare the [expletive] out of my wife so why wouldn't I do it to my cat?

Late to the party but just reading this. WTF? Don't [expletive] adopt a pet if you can't [expletive] commit. That animal depends on you. Oh, and cats don't eat babies, so that is a [expletive] excuse.Molly wrote:You were kinder to him than I would have been!!planet planet wrote:I'm known as the "cat rescue lady" among friends so I get random texts over the years from people asking if I can help rehome their friends' pets. Tenth Life, and most rescues, have a no "owner surrender" policy. Basically, they're not a place where people go to dump their pets who are no longer convenient anymore. I got a text today from a guy who needs to get rid of his 12/13 yr. old kitty who has no behavioral issues, but they had a baby (you usually hear that or they're moving and can't take the pet with them). So I advised him to take the kitty to the least kill of the kill shelters that has open admission.
Just sucks. How can you discard a pet family member like that, especially in their elder years when their chances to find a new home are even more slim?
