I don't know about that, I thought to myself when he started talking about encouraging readers to read his footnotes to find out where he is coming from that I should just go buy that book and do just that. Or ... I could poke my eyeballs out with a fork. Either one.

I'd rather speak to a New Testament scholar and ask him or her, "Is what this guy is saying really new or startling? Does he use, and understand, solid scholarship that's already out there?"

In other words, what is the conversation that he's entering? Does he misinterpret what others are saying? Does he simply repeat them? He's presenting these ideas as some kind of amazing synthesis, and I doubt that they really are.

reza, in my mind, is fairly well known in these kind of things(his writings, interview circuits, etc). seems like a news organization like fox news, even with their bias, wouldn't be questioning his credentials and/or his right to write a book. it's not like he's a complete unknown.

He's the new John Dominic Crossan, which is to say there's nothing new to his scholarship. And scholarship is widely divided on this topic. And the real problem (as sort of unveiled in the interview) is that both sides hold the other in low regard.

The thing I want to know is what kind of college degree does this guy have? Associates degree? Higher? What was his major.

That's just your love for contrarianism.

The dude, as he should have based on her idiotic line of questioning, kept repeating that it was his [expletive] job to write the sort of [expletive] that he wrote. Now if he does that in every interview, then I am with you. HOWEVER in the other interview I heard with him, he did not repeat his CV. I assume the reason was because his motives weren't being questioned.

I love contrarianism as much as the next [expletive] but you are just wrong on this one.

I don't know who that lady was doing the interview or who that guy was being interviewed, but I didn't like either one of them after that interview. They were both really bad in their own way.
