This can probably be posted once a year. Also add "larger" and "contains more Earth-like planets."pioneer98 wrote:Universe older than previously thought

If something like the Grand Canyon is a breathe-taking spectacle that you can't conceive of until you see it in person, our solar system alone is mind-blowing. I don't think we can even fathom how cool space really is.

It's actually kind of amazing how small the revision is. The previous best estimate was 13.73 billion and now it moves to 13.82 billion with much less uncertainty. The fact that we can estimate the age of the universe with 4 significant figures is ... impressive.JackofDiamonds wrote:This can probably be posted once a year. Absolutely, I am not saying that it's not impressive, but that as our knowledge grows, the universe seems to become grander.Arthur Dent wrote:It's actually kind of amazing how small the revision is. I just read a bunch of the Kubrick-The Shinging as a Moon Conspiracy confession stuff.
Pretty amazing.
But with a Kubrick movie like that, you could come up w/ just about any theory and fit it in his awesome, open, vague sort of way.
