.223/.289/.400 for Colby Rasmus.

I asked this four days ago and I can't come up with an answer--what happened to him? Is he regressing? Should a Rasmus groupie still be holding out hope because he's only 25?

Here's another comparison: a multi-tooled CF of relatively recent vintage that made his MLB debut at a young age. This fellow played even more than Rasmus has, racking up 2337 PA through his age 25 season and compiling a .252/.293/.414 line through that time. Guess who? Rasmus, by comparison, is .243/.313/.422 for his career to date with 2205 PA.

Josh Kinney pitched for the Mariners this year. His numbers in a half-season of relief could probably best be qualfied as "decent". Certainly his best season since he won a ring six years ago.

I forgot to look at the bottom--Patterson is listed seventh on Rasmus' list of comparable batters by age. Roger Maris (!) is third.

Also, the [Mariners] announced that Dustin Ackley (ankle) and Brendan Ryan (elbow) underwent arthroscopic surgeries on Thursday.

Ackley had a bone spur removed from his left ankle, and Ryan had a bone spur removed from his right elbow. Both are expected to be completely healthy for spring training.

FWIW, Rasmus is 26. He'll turn 27 during next year's season.

Brendan Ryan had the most valuable season (by rWAR) of anyone to ever hit .200 or under.
