Re: NFL 2012 season thread
he might have a point but 4 games in 17 days isn't that far off the sunday schedule where you'd play four games in 21 days.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Roge ... all-091312What is more dangerous — a symbolic, thousand-dollar bounty system or the Baltimore Ravens opening the season playing four NFL games in 17 days?.....
It’s going to take death, a serious injury or a lawsuit to stop the NFL’s desire to televise live games seven days a week, six months a year. If a team can play four games in 17 days, why can’t teams play an 18-game regular season?
But Gregg Williams is evil because he instructed his defensive players to attack the head. Really? What’s more dangerous, deeds or tough talk, a brutal schedule or a bounty system that rewards you for what you were going to do anyway?
Why is it dangerous to play 4 games in 17 days?
I can't believe people are still defending the bounty thing.

um, bodies need time to recover after getting slammed into the ground repeatedly by 300 pound men. Every extra day of rest makes a big difference.Socnorb11 wrote:stlouie_lipp wrote:Jason Whitlock is hit or miss for me. This is one of his hits.

I don't read his article as defending the bounty program, but highlighting the hypocrisy of the NFL when it comes to player safety.

The normal schedule would be 4 games in 20 or 21 days. I think it's a silly alarmist attitude by this author trying to make an issue out of the 17 days, and comparing it to the bounty program. You're talking about (on average) 1 less day rest per game.

Re: NFL 2012 season thread
You don't think that one day less, every week for four weeks in a row is a very big deal. The author does and players do...I place more weight in what they say on the topic than what you do. You seem to think that 1 less day of rest between games is no big deal, you are simply wrong according to the people who actually play the game. The point of the article is that a schedule like this places the players health at risk more than a bounty program did. I agree with that, you don't and I don't care.Socnorb11 wrote:stlouie_lipp wrote:um, bodies need time to recover after getting slammed into the ground repeatedly by 300 pound men. It's only week two and the Chiefs are already mailing it in.

Ryan Williams fumble against NE on a 3rd and 13. That's why you just kneel down to kill the clock and punt with 30 seconds left.
Edit: much like a 9 iron I hit today, Gostkowski shanks it.

How does everyone feel about S. Jackson's apparent benching after his spiking penalty? Seems a little harsh despite Richardson's 89 total yards so far.

I don't mind it. Fisher could have challenged two touchdown calls and didn't....I get the feeling he isn't screwing with, or putting up with, small crap until they start winning.

Re: NFL 2012 season thread
Who would've known when we won the Jeff Fisher sweepstakes v. the Dolphins that it would make this much of an impact?
