Goldstein has mentioned on a couple occasions that Taveras isn't a MLB CF. Doesn't mean he can't take the field there, but it sounds like you'd be sacrificing defense.

I have him in my farm system on my fantasy squad for five years. Hopefully he's continues to dominate and is called up sooner rather than later......

I agree with this. He mainly played RF when he was here in QC. He had a pretty good arm but not a ton of range. You could probably get away with playing him at CF from time to time but wouldn't want to do it for a full season.

Happened to catch Goold today on the radio and he mentioned the possibility that he might be able to play CF in the majors. Take that for what it's worth. He's pretty raw and needs some work. I love that he's playing CF in the minors. Great way to learn the outfield and then you can always move him to a corner spot when he arrives.

Agreed. From what I've read, it seems they have been having him man down CF so he will be an adequate corner OF when the time comes.

The power he has shown thus far in AA as a 19 year old makes me think this kid's ceiling is through the roof. Most excited I have ever been about a prospect (have only followed MiLB for a handful of years).

Man, Taveras has exceeded my expectations and then some.

Kid is a machine and if you haven't seen his swing in person, you should really try to find some video of it. Kid lets it F-L-Y!

•Oscar Taveras, OF, Cardinals (Double-A Springfield): 2-for-4, HR (7), 2 R, 2 RBI, BB, K, SB. Four home runs in last seven games; .347/.385/.694 in 24 overall and stock is exploding.

He only had 8 HR in 347 AB in QC last year, and already has 7 HR in 110 AB this year. I don’t know if this is him developing more as a power hitter or if he will regress a bit as the season goes on. Or maybe a little of both.

Either way it is impressive. He had a ridiculous 0.444 OBP in QC last year. His OBP is “down” to 0.364 this year, but his improved HR numbers are keeping his overall OPS about the same.

Springfield might be the single most HR boosting park in all of AA.

He's still 19...19!

Man, I thought I loved the kid and I put him 4th in my prospects...clearly he should have been 2nd.

(Or *gasp* 1st)
