It's really not outrageous for people to ask that others be on the same page in terms of their knowledge of a situation before commenting and especially questioning things that those folks bring up. If I go start a thread in Baseball Talk titled "What if the Cards traded Pujols to the Yankees?", what do you think the response would/should be?

A twenty-one page grand jury report and a fifty page thread. We're talking about a huge amount of content here. To condescendingly dismiss questions with responses like "you don't deserve to ask questions or voice an opinion [if you haven't read the grand jury report]" is pretentious and obnoxious, and is unreasonable under any circumstances.

It's perfectly reasonable to tell someone the conclusion they are drawing without all of the relevant information is invalid.

No one was tactless or obnoxious about that. Some people perceived it that way, but their perception is their own fault. People shouldn't have to qualify every critical post with over the top politeness.
