Has Wong signed yet? And if so what affiliate will he most likely be assigned to? Since he's a college player they ought as well skip over Batavia and Johnson City for him and send him to the Quad Cities IMO.

Re: Kolten Wong
He should sign pretty quickly, and will start out at Quad Cities. He's considered a very polished hitter, so depending how he's faring, and depending on how Quad Cities, Palm Beach, or Springfield as a team is playing, the FO may consider promoting him to a higher level to help that team with their playoff run. That's what they did with Brett Wallace in 200&.JoeMcKim wrote:Has Wong signed yet? And if so what affiliate will he most likely be assigned to? I'm glad that our first rounder this year isn't waiting until September to sign, which is like wasting a year of development. When they sign that late at best you can get them a few games in the Arizona Fall League.

Kolten has signed with a 1.5 million signing bonus. He's headed to Quad Cities.

Cardinals signed first-round pick 2B Kolten Wong.
Wong was given a $1.5 million signing bonus and will report to Single-A Quad Cities. The second baseman posted a .492 on-base percentage this year for the University of Hawaii and was named an All-WAC player in all three of his college seasons. The 20-year-old could rise quickly through the Cardinals' system.

Good to hear. I wonder where others would place him in the Cards prospect list at this very moment.
1. Shelby
2. Martinez
3. Cox
4. Wong
I think you almost have to go that way even with Zack's slow start at Springfield.
