It's pretty unfortunate for Kobe because KG yells the same phrase at least ten times per game, and Kobe is the one getting fined.MrCrowesGarden wrote:How's everyone feel about the Kobe fine?

$100K is a lot for something that gets said all the time. Only because he's a star and only because the camera zoomed in on him and only because the announcer went out of his way to point it out on national TV, he gets singled out. I don't like Kobe at all but I think it's BS.
I'll take the Heat over the Lakers to be different.

I think the fine was hefty and pretty crappy, but Kobe's explanation was bull. Don't say you aren't trying to offend someone when that's clearly what you were doing.

I haven't read his explanation yet, but I thought it clearly was more the fifth grade type of use than some sort of true homophobic slur.

It was, but that doesn't mean there wasn't the same intent behind it.

Maybe, but $100K is one of the biggest sports fines I've ever heard of for something that didn't also apparently warrant a suspension. I figured he would attend the standard sensitivity training and maybe do a PSA. $100K is nothing to sneeze at for anyone.

Re: NBA 10-11
Saw Sam Smith yesterday and talked a bit about the Bulls. Highlights:
- Rose is MVP, no doubt about it. He will win.
- All teams flawed. Bulls have as good a chance as a couple of others. Obviously Heat, Bulls, Celtics in the East.
- Noah not right since surgery. Seems winded, out of shape. Not sure what is going on with him, but look for fewer minutes from him.
- Team chemistry sky high. Pieces just "fit".
