I'm optimistic on the Blues' future, but I wouldn't take a playoff spot for granted next year. The West is going to continue to be extremely tough - easy to envision all 8 current playoff teams being favorites to return, and you have Anaheim knocking on the door with Vancouver potentially bouncing back. It'll be a dogfight all season.

I clearly forgot about Holloway!! Ugh!!GeddyWrox wrote: ↑May 5 25, 9:58 amIf they stand largely pat during the offseason, this is what we look like on paper for next year:
Thomas Buchy Snuggerud
Schenn Kyrou Neighbors
Sundqvist Bolduc _______ *
_______ Walker Toropchenko
Parayko Fowler
Faulk Broberg
Leddy Tucker
Binnington
Hofer
* Texier and Joseph are both under contract, but I could see moving one or both of them in the offseason.

Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
The Jets with both the power play and extra attacker were locked in. It went back to game 6. The Jets were 2 for 6 on the power play in that game, but it got better and better as the game went along. The Blues were really fortunate to only allow the 2 goals. If you include the 2 extra attacker goals, the Jets were 3 for 4 with a man advantage in game 7.
The Jets OT goal was their first "even strength" goal since game 5...and the Blues did not score a power play goal the last 4 games of the series! Read that again! The Blues' power play is low key flying under the radar as a cause for losing the series.
Basically, special teams overall is what killed them.

That’s fair, especially given that 3 of our top 4 d as well as all of our not Thomas C are getting to, or are past the worrisome part of the age curve. DA needs a couple more home runs this offseason.Popeye_Card wrote: ↑May 5 25, 12:06 pmI'm optimistic on the Blues' future, but I wouldn't take a playoff spot for granted next year. Hopefully not everyone has tuned out the NHL playoffs after the Blues were eliminated, as there has really been some great hockey games and series. There are reports that Toronto also participated, though I have not been able to visually confirm.

Ain't that the truth. They completely embarrassed themselves on home ice in Game 5 & Game 7.Popeye_Card wrote: ↑May 19 25, 1:00 pmHopefully not everyone has tuned out the NHL playoffs after the Blues were eliminated, as there has really been some great hockey games and series. It'll be interesting to see how the stink of this most recent, plus all of the other playoff failures will affect Marner's free agency. Marner and Matthews have now played in six game 7's together. The Maple Leafs are 0-6 in those games, and they have 0 goals combined. Do you really want to tie up that much cap space on a guy who has been a complete ghost when the lights shine brightest?
